Research overview
Visa Inc. (NYSE: V) is a multinational payments technology company headquartered in San Francisco, California (relocated to a new Mission Bay HQ in June 2024), founded in 1958 as BankAmericard and renamed Visa in 1976. It operates the world's largest retail electronic payments network. For fiscal year 2025 Visa reported roughly $40 billion in net revenue.

- Maturity
- Multi-Function / Full-Stack GCC
The center does core product engineering (payments authorisation, tokenisation, next-gen payment technology per company-provided notes) rather than back-office support alone, and the on-file leadership title (Head of HR APAC - Technology) indicates regional people-function leadership is also based here, spanning two cities - consistent with a multi-function, full-stack GCC. Could not be independently confirmed against a current Visa org-structure source.
Location rationale
Bengaluru was selected as home to Visa's largest technology center outside the U.S. because of its deep, established software engineering and fintech talent pool, giving Visa direct access to engineers for core payments authorization, tokenization and next-gen payment technology work; Mumbai complements this as Visa's commercial/financial-services hub city in India.
